Please read this page for more information regarding what will be happening in our class. We update the page to inform you of our learning throughout the year. If you have any questions do not hesitate to ask us.

As we are going into Autumn and the weather is changing, please ensure that your child comes to school with appropriate clothing.

Miss Shore and Mrs Carmichael

Our PE days for Wales Class  are Monday and Wednesday. Children should come into school in their PE kits on these days, ready for the lessons. Please name any kit and ensure children have trainers and suitable outdoor kit (such as a jumper or jacket). Tracksuits should be plain and dark in colour. Let us know if you need any help finding suitable PE kit.

Forest School

You will be informed which half term your child will be doing forest schools.

English - Autumn Term

Our English this half term will be based on the story 'Leaf' by Sandra Dieckmann.

Maths - Autumn Term

For the first 4 weeks of this term we will be learning about place value (within 10).

Here are the main concepts that will be taught....

Our topic for the first half term is....................

Live and Let Live!

What’s the big idea?

What do living things such as animals and plants need in order to survive and grow? Do humans have the same needs? What is the difference between a living thing and something that has never been alive? We are going to find the answers to these key questions in this topic.

We will start our year 1 phonics journey by revising the phase 3 sounds and common exception words.

In Phase 3  we will recap the twenty-five new graphemes one at a time. We will recap in this order: j, v, w, x Set 7: y, z, zz, qu. Consonant digraphs: ch, sh, th, ng. Vowel digraphs and trigraphs: ai, ee, igh, oa, oo, ar, or, ur, ow, oi, ear, air, ure, er.
