Microsoft Teams

Our Microsoft Teams pages are still up and running so please log in with the details provided before the summer break and check for any messages, updates or resources for home learning! Send an email via the school office if you are having any trouble logging in.

We would love to see any work that you complete at home, so please share it with us on our class Teams page. It could be some spelling practice, texts you are reading or anything else you are doing to work on your learning skills at home. Just remember that anything you post on the General page of our class Team will be visible to everyone in the class, including staff members.

The topic for the final couple of weeks is.........

How Humans Work

This topic is mainly science based with lots of learning about the human body - from teeth to feet! We will find out about how we see and hear things and how our bodies digest food and drink.

We are also lucky enough to have a special virtual visit from a doctor, who will be answering lots of our questions!

Our final text of 2020 is 'The Tinderbox' by Hans Christian Anderson. This is a traditional tale of a soldier that finds himself in a very unusual situation with a tinderbox that can grant any wish he has! We will be writing our own versions of the story as well as creating diary entries from the perspective of the soldier himself.

For the last two weeks, each class will be recapping some learning from the summer term and ensuring children are caught up with anything they have have missed during lockdown. Year 3 are focussing mainly on telling the time and Year 4 are doing some work on fractions and decimals. You will be able to see some of the things we are doing on our Teams pages, so please take a look.

As always, children will continue practicing their times tables in school and should keep working on these at home too as much as possible. Look at our class Teams pages for some good resources to help with this or ask the teachers if you are unsure.

Reading Books and Homework Diaries

These should be brought into school every day as we try to read at least for a few minutes each day.  We would encourage you to date and put a short comment every time you read with your child at home so we have an indication of how much home reading they are doing.  If your child needs to change their book, there is a box at the back of our classroom by the sink they can pop it into to be changed that day.  Covid restrictions mean that the children cannot go and choose their own.  Our records should prevent the children being given a book they had before (since they have been in this class), but if we slip up the children can just let us know and we can swap!  We will be assessing all of the children over the coming weeks to make sure they are on the correct level.

A spelling list with 10 words will be stapled into the Homework Diary on Thurs or Friday each week.  The test is on the following Thursday.  The spellings for upcoming tests are below.

Times Tables

Please help children to practise - they will take National Tests in Y4 to assess their competence and this really is an easy one to pass with flying colours if they are working on this consistently.  At this stage they should all be secure on 2, 5, 10, 3, 4 and be nearly there with 6 and 8.  The next sets are 7 and 9, then finally 11 and 12.  Our weekly test will be on a Friday.  A selection of times table resources are below and we would recommend this website as a fun way to practise.

This weeks spellings: TEST DATE IS THURSDAY 15TH OCTOBER
