Home Learning

Week Beginning 13th July 2020

Hello Snowy Owls,

Well I'm not really sure where to start, as I never thought I would be saying goodbye to the majority of you this way. I'll start with our home learning for the week.

It is the very last week, and what would happen in school is still lots of learning but there would always be one day dedicated to watching a film; tidying trays; taking down displays; helping sort out cupboards and lots of drawing/colouring. So in the spirit of the end of term tidy, why don't you have a day where you help tidy? You may have been incredibly helpful over lockdown and helped already, if you haven't now's a good time to start. (I expect you've watched all the films on Netflix and Disney+ so I don't think I need to ask you to do that one!)

Once you've finished tidying we do have a lovely end of Year 2 activity for you, along with a few final pieces of maths. To end our Castles topic and to link with George and the Dragon last week we would like you to plan, and if possible, have a banquet. We are going to do the same in school with the year 1 pods and my pod, which has a mixture of year 2s and year 3s and it should be a lovely fun way to end the term.

I will never forget this year. Thank you for being so awesome, you were quite honestly one of the best classes I've ever had the pleasure of teaching. 26 individuals, but when you came together you worked so hard; had the most amazing conversations; challenged yourselves to be better; completed work that blew me away on numerous occasions; mostly very well behaved wink and there was always lots of laughter. I am so very very sad, as I've said many times before, that we did not have this year together in class, but I've loved reading your emails, seeing your photos and videos. To keep in contact with so many of you has been wonderful and has certainly helped me in this very weird time.

You are the very last Snowy Owls class, but once you've been a Snowy Owl you will always be a Snowy Owl. My class may well be called France next year, but I will still beam with pride every time a Snowy Owl stands up in Golden Book Assembly, or I see you on stage in the Year 3/4 Easter Show, or when I'm nosy and wander into your next classroom to see what you are up to, which I will do!

Remember to be kind, treat everyone the same, work hard and have fun!

Take care,

With love,

Mrs White laugh

English/Topic - w/b 13th July

You only have one more week of home learning left, so I think we need a celebration! We are going to have a medieval banquet, the perfect way to celebrate in a castle.

Use this power point to find out all you can about medieval banquets…

We would like you to create and design the menu for your very own banquet. What is your favourite food? What would you like to serve at your banquet? Would you have a giant plate of sausages with ketchup on the side? Would you like pizza? Would you serve a chocolate cake for pudding? It’s your banquet you can have any food you want!

If you’re really lucky and you ask your adults, you might even be able to make some of the food from your menu and have a mini banquet at home. Send us photos if you do!

PE/Sports Day Challenge! Wb 6th July & 13th July

So normally this time of year we would be taking part in Sports Day. As things are a bit different this year we thought we would bring sports day to you…

Here are some ideas for things you could do over the next 2 weeks. You can do as many of these sports day challenges as you want. Get your brothers and sisters or adults involved too! Don’t forget to ask your adults to take some action shots, we’d love to see your sports day at home.

Science - continued for July

We are leaving these up in case you did not get a chance to complete them. Click on the links below for the challenges.

Please send us your wild pictures to show on the website.

WRITING

Writing needs to have a purpose, so maybe writing a letter to me each week would be fun for you; or creating your own book; or as some of you are brilliant at knowing every fact ever about dinosaurs and animals make a poster about your favourite animal; or a power point; or even write a script and then record yourself and send it to me...you could be a news reporter!

Find something that you enjoy doing and I look forward to seeing any writing you would like to do over the next couple of weeks.

READING

This website is free at the moment. The oxford press are the company that created Biff, Chip and Kipper books among others, so this is a great resource. All the books are levelled and at your child's ability.
