In USA class, the adults are:

English:

When a move to a new house coincides with his baby sister's illness, Michael's world seems suddenly lonely and uncertain. Then, exploring a ramshackle garage with new-found friend Mina, he finds something magical. A strange creature - part owl, part angel, a being who needs Michael's help if he is to survive.

We will be using David Almond's masterpiece as the inspiration to teach the national curriculum, including grammar and punctuation features, spellings, and writing at length.

Maths:

Our maths curriculum follows the White Rose scheme of learning.  This term we will be looking at

algebra; converting between units of measure; perimeter, area and volume; and ratio.

Home Learning:

Please focus on the following for home learning:

-ALL CHILDREN HAVE BEEN SENT HOME WITH LINES AND A SCRIPT FOR THE SCHOOL PLAY.  PLEASE PRACTISE THESE DAILY.

-Reading: aim for daily, for around twenty minutes.  Remember to discuss the reading with your child.  Reading feeds so widely into all learning so please make this a priority!

-Times tables: daily, for around ten minutes.  Focus on the tables you find trickiest, and make sure you include division facts too.  

-Spelling: these will be sent home weekly and tested in class.  Practise them accurately, using joined up handwriting if you can as this supports the learning process.  Spellings will also be put on Teams.

-Some children will be set a ten-minute task from their CGP books.  These will be set on Fridays and should be returned to school, completed and marked, by Wednesday.  We will also go through the answers in school so note down any questions that you may have.  It is fine for children to work with their parents on these.

Healthy Snack

We are having a big push on healthy snacks for the children.  Please send your child in with fruit or vegetables only.

Other information:

Check the timetable above for PE days.  Remember that your child should be sent to school in PE kit on these days.

Over the coming weeks, your child will receive their log ins for timestable rockstars and Myon.co.uk (our new reading tool).  Please remember to use this site as there is a vast online library of amazing books.  Children should also complete- if possible- the book quiz for any books that they complete.
