After School Clubs
St Edmundsbury Church of England Primary Academy now provides wrap-around care. Please contact the office for further detail.
Cooking Club
Mrs Murfet and Miss Maria's cooking club is a hugely popular afterschool activity, where the children from Year 1 to Year 6 make a wonderful variety of different foods. This is such a valuable skill for life. The children absolutely love their club and you can tell it's Wednesday by the laughter and smells coming from the teaching kitchen!
Lunchtime Clubs
Children in both the Reception to Year 2 and the Year 3 to Year 6 playgrounds can also access some of these clubs during lunchtimes. Sports Coaches from Premier Sport supply and run activities for the children to take part in.
St Edmundsbury School Football Club
St Edmundsbury FC is a Saturday morning football club run by volunteers with the support of the school for all age groups Y1-Y6. The club is affiliated to Suffolk FA and all coaches are DBS checked and have FA Safeguarding training.
Our U9 (Y3&4) and U11 (Y5&6) squads represent the school in the Bury St Edmunds & District Primary Schools Football League, playing home and away against other local primary schools most weekends between the Autumn and Summer half-terms.
Our U7s (Y1&2) play friendly games over the course of the season and teams from all 3 squads play in any end of season tournaments that are arranged.
Training sessions are held on those Saturday mornings where teams do not have a match and our emphasis is firmly on young players enjoying themselves, improving their skills and learning to be part of a team. We try to give equal gametime to anyone who shows their commitment to the club by coming along to training sessions and matches throughout the season.
We train and play our home matches at King Edward School on Saturday mornings and away games are played at schools in and around Bury so if you enjoy football and would like to be part of our club come and join in.
Please note, the main Grove Rd gates to KES are closed at weekends, use the Spring Lane entrance and car park. The right footwear is essential on the artificial surface; AstroTurf trainers (no flat soles) or boots with FG moulded studs (no metal studs or blades) – we have some spares for those who are new to football.
