-Ireland Class- (Year 1 /Year 2)

Welcome to Ireland Class!

It has been lovely welcoming back the children and getting to know them. It has been strange getting used to the new way of doing things but we are settling well.

I am looking forward to getting to know the children and sharing our learning together. Here's to a happy year together developing knowledge, skills and understanding!

In English we have been looking at the book 'Here We Are' by Oliver Jeffers. It is a lovely book that Oliver Jeffers wrote for his baby son as a guide to planet Earth. It is a lovely book that gives us time to reflect about different aspects of life on Earth. It is a lovely book and well worth a read! We have been looking at endangered animals and using computers to write facts about them.

In Maths we are looking at place value and number. We have been counting and looking at the importance of being careful. We have started looking at comparing numbers and using the < > = symbols. We are following the White Rose scheme of work and developing our problem solving skills.

We are currently assessing all the children in Phonics to see where they are. We are currently recapping phase 3 sounds and looking at tricky words 'the' and 'to'. We use website which the children enjoy. There are a number of free games on the website that can be used to further the children's learning.

Our topic at the moment is 'Brainwave'. We have been looking at how our brains work and how we can develop positive learning behaviours. We are also looking at steps we can take to keep our brains nice and healthy.
